About Frazier Rehabilitation Institute

Frazier Rehab Institute is an acute care rehabilitation hospital which opened in 1954 and has recently expanded from a 5-story, 90-bed facility a to 15-story, 135-bed tower. Brand-new, private rooms were recently (February, 2006) opened on the 7th (TBI, Stroke), 8th (Pediatrics), 9th (Orthopedic, General), and 10th (SCI) floors of the new expansion. Each floor has its own therapy gym with a full-glass wall overlooking the Louisville skyline. The 6th floor contains the Outpatient therapy gym, Gait analysis, 2 pools for aquatic therapy, Neuropsychology, the Movement Disorder Clinic of world-renowned neurologist Dr. Irene Litvan, and the Spinal Cord Injury Clinic. The 11th floor houses the cardiopulmonary gym and The Trager Pavilion at Frazier (which is another floor of private rooms which are reserved for those requesting extra attention). The 15th floor houses Administration, 2 as-yet-to-be-finished large conference rooms, the PMR residents' and academic office, and Dr. Susan Harkema's SCI research offices for the University of Louisville's Kentucky Spinal Cord Injury Research Center and NeuroRecovery Network. Dr. Harkema is the Rehabilitation Research Director at KSCIRC. Frazier provides excellent exposure to a variety of patients, pathology, and experiences which all contribute to a fulfilling and rewarding training experience.
